Emergenza Festival and Letters to Lions

Way back when we played

The about section on this band’s Facebook band page reads simply “we play music”. But, don’t let the simplistic description get in the way of appreciating this young band who has so much to offer when it comes to original melodies, beautiful tone, and compelling execution. The gritty indie style vocals provide a really charming, at times melancholy, touch to the otherwise upbeat, poppy harmonic progressions. The melodies are fantastic, and the accompaniment is simple, even sparse, yet soulful, which is the best combination for making music memorable. You can stream their sounds on their Facebook band page, but be warned: these songs will get stuck in your head. “Following” is particularly raw and compelling.
The break down toward the end of the song where the vocals go up to an almost screaming range would surely put chills on your arms if you saw the live version. “The Youth” is great too. Oh hell, they’re all fantastic songs!

Don’t miss out on your chance to see them play live. They’re hitting the stage at The Factory Theatre in Sydney where they’re set to battle it out for the semi-finals of the Emergenza Festival. Come down, and put your vote in for this spectacular young band. You won’t regret it.
